when the light strikes

julia mccutchen

life is too short not to realise your dreams

wednesday 8 march 7pm

Tonight creativity coach Julia McCutchen will discuss how you can use the principles of creativity to guide you in your approach to life in general. Just as a writer seeks to express the inspiration that comes from within, the whole of life is about trying to find full expression for our higher self. The problem is getting the inspiration in the first place and knowing what to do with it when it comes. What do you do when the light strikes?

It is often the case that an apparently negative experience proves to be the catalyst for life change, and so proves to be one of our best. This is something that Julia can talk about from experience.

At the age of 35, she was running a successful independent book publishing company turning over £12 million and publishing over 120 new books a year which reflected various aspects of timeless wisdom. She was responsible for 60 staff, earned a good salary and drove a fast convertible - an essential part of her fast-lane life.

Then her life changed forever. An accident at a book sales conference left her unable to work for a year and resulted in a complete shift in priorities and perspective on life. It took years to rebuild her health and life, but, during that time, she reconnected with her real self and the creativity and passion that had inspired her to become a publisher in the first place.

It had been a Dark Night of the Soul experience, but she found that the lessons she had learned had relevance to others. Life is indeed the great initiator. Today, she says, she is living life consciously and joyfully.

This will be an evening about the importance of awakening to our true self and how to achieve authentic expression of it in the world.

Julia McCutchen is the author of The Writer's Journey-From Inspiration to Publication and works as a Publishing Consultant and Creativity Coach. She specialises in all aspects of non-fiction writing, publishing and creativity. Her workshop The Writer's Journey is on 19 March. http://www.ffmedia.co.uk
